First Arriving at the Apartment
Enter into your car’s navigation Placa de Ganguis 14B Oliva. If that doesn’t work then Placa de Ganguis, Oliva.
When you get off the highway you will be brought into the charming town of Oliva. When you are in Oliva you will notice when you change over from normal street pavement to cobblestone streets. That is a sign you are getting close to the apartment. Slow down, keep driving, and very soon you will see a building on the right corner that says Nikki’s Lounge. That means you are very close. At the intersection where Nikki’s Lounge is on the right corner, keep going straight. At the next stop sign you will be at Ganguis square.
Slowly drive into Ganguis square. Yes. Drive your car into the square. You will go over a small bump to get into the square. Put your hazard lights on so they are blinking. Take your things out of your car. There is no private parking for this apartment. However, it is allowed to quickly park in Ganguis square to unload things out of your car and into the apartment and then drive off.
When you get out of your car and are standing in Ganguis square put your back to Cafe Molinos and on your right will be the small market Gama. Look straight ahead. You are now looking at a row of white buildings. In the row of white buildings look to the left-most building where a small street goes down. That is the building where the apartment is in. To access the front door of the apartment, walk towards the left-most building and walk a few steps down the small street. Immediately on your right there is a black metal gate and above it it says 14B. That is the entrance to the apartment.
Key Pick Up
We will not be there to hand over the keys. This apartment is self check in with lockbox.
The lockbox password is 1977.
A lockbox is on the front gate of the apartment. Flip open the front and you will find 4 dials. Turn the dials to 1977. Then flip the black switch. The lockbox will open and inside will be 1 set of keys. Take out the keys and close the lockbox fully.
There are 4 keys in total: 2 keys for the black metal gate and 2 keys for the front door. The keys are color coordinated. The red key is for the top gate lock. The green key is for the bottom gate lock. The black key is for the top front door lock. The white key is for the bottom front door lock.
With the metal gate and front door unlocked and open, bring your things into the apartment. When all of your things are out of your car and in the apartment, then close the front door and the metal gate and lock all 4 locks again.
Parking
There is no private parking for the Old Town apartment. You are not allowed to park in Ganguis square. You are only allowed to stop there to unload / load your car and then drive off. There is a free public parking lot that is very close and always has a free spot for you to park your car.
When first arriving in Oliva it may seen stressful understanding how the roads are laid out. But very soon you will see how easy it is, once you know where the roads go. Below are the instructions on how to get from Ganguis square to the free parking lot and then back to the Old Town apartment on foot.
With you in the car and another person outside guiding you (if possible), make sure there are no cars driving down the streets. With no cars driving down the streets, slowly revers your car out of Ganguis square. Keep reversing your car back down the street you came down with the stop sign. The other person outside will guide you backwards and stop any cars that may have appeared. You must reverse your car all the way to the stop sign for this to work.
With your car now reversed all the way to the stop sign and your other person in your car with you, put your car in drive and make a right turn so that Ganguis square is on your left. Keep going straight down a small one way street. Yes you will feel claustrophobic and that you are going the wrong way but you are actually going the right way. Keep going straight down the small one way street. It will open up a bit and then you will come to a stop sign. You are now outside of Oliva. Turn right at the stop sign. You will see two large brown columns on either side of the road as border markers to the town of Oliva. Immediately at the large brown columns take a right. That is the street the free public parking lot is on. Turn right into the free parking lot and park your car. It is safe to park your car there.
To get from the free parking lot back to the apartment on foot, leave the parking lot and turn right. Walk under the arch and keep on walking straight. On the right you will see a white building that says Nikki’s Lounge. Turn right at Nikki’s Lounge and walk down that street. At the stop sign you will see Ganguis square diagonally to your right and the entrance to the apartment down the small street to your left.
You’ve just made a circle from Ganguis square, driving out of Oliva, coming back into Oliva, parking at the parking lot, and walking back to the apartment. If you have come this far then the most stressful part is over. You can now relax and enjoy the apartment and all Oliva has to offer.
Apartment Guide
Sets of Keys
Inside the lockbox there is 1 set of keys to get you into the apartment.
Upon entering the apartment there are hooks on the wall with multiple sets of keys for you to use. During your stay please leave all sets of keys on the hooks so you don’t forget them anywhere.
You are responsible for all of the sets of keys during your stay.
If you lose a set of keys during your stay you will be charged extra to replace them.
The 4 Lock Rule
Oliva is a safe place. That said, it is traditional to have many locks on the doors for everyone’s safety.
For example, the metal gate. If the metal gate is not locked it can swing out into the street. And when a car drives by the car could hit the gate. Damages to the car and the gate would be your responsibility if you did not lock both locks on the metal gate.
Another example, the upper and lower locks. Children like getting into things they aren’t supposed to. If your child got hold of the keys and unlocked the bottom lock on the front door and the bottom lock on the metal gate - and if both top locks weren’t locked - then your child could run out onto the street and be hit by a car. So due to children’s safety, there are two locks on the doors: a top lock and a bottom lock.
Your safety is of utmost priority to us. We understand that locking 4 locks each time you go through the front door can be annoying. But we’d rather you be annoyed for a few seconds than be responsible for damages to the front gate, a car driving by, or worse the safety of your children be at stake.
THAT’S WHY WE ASK YOU TO PLEASE LOCK ALL 4 LOCKS DURING YOUR STAY.
WiFi Information
The apartment has WiFi throughout. There are 2 WiFi boxes: 1 main router upstairs in the living room and 1 booster downstairs in the hall. Both WiFi names and passwords are printed on your welcome pack in the kitchen for you to easily get online. The main router covers all of upstairs in the living room and terrace, and downstairs in the kitchen and stairwell. When you are in the bedrooms you may need to switch to the booster router as the main router may be out of reach.
Air Conditioning & Heating
In Spain, the air conditioners are multi-functional. In the summers they work to keep you cool. And in the winters they work to keep you warm. There is an air conditioner in all of the rooms in the apartment. Each conditioner has its own remote control. Point the remote control at the air conditioner and press the main button to turn it on. You will hear a short beep and the bottom covering will move and that is where the air will come out.
For cool air, press the Mode button as many times until you see the snowflake symbol on the remote’s display.
For warm air, press the Mode button as many times until you see the sun symbol on the remote’s display.
To increase or decrease the temperature, press the up or down arrows on the remote.
To increase or decrease the fan’s level, press the Fan button as many times as you like until it is at the level you prefer.
To turn the air conditioner off, point the remote control at the air conditioner and press the main button until you hear a long beep. Then the bottom flap will close and cover where the air used to come out.
PLEASE TURN OFF ALL AIR CONDITIONERS BEFORE LEAVING THE HOUSE.
TROUBLESHOOTING: If you turn the air conditioner on, hear the short beep, but the bottom covering does not move - just wait and be patient. The air conditioner may not have been used for a while and may need to to warm up. Wait a few minutes and soon the bottom covering will open up and begin blowing air.
TROUBLESHOOTING: If you are trying to turn the air conditioner on or off and it’s not beeping, walk closer to the air conditioner, point the remote directly at it, and press the main button again. If that still doesn’t work, then the batteries may need to be replaced. Extra batteries are in the kitchen in the drawer below the microwave.
