How Oliva Rentals Came To Be.

Hi! I’m Jonathan - the owner of Oliva Rentals. It’s great to have you here on our site. The most often question I get asked from our guests is... “Why Oliva?” So this is my story.

My partner and I would vacation in Ibiza and Mallorca every summer. Between sipping drinks at the pool and exploring the islands, we dreamed of owning property there. Then 24 hours after flying back home to Germany, we went back to work, and that dream was instantly forgotten.

But one year, I didn’t forget about it. Actually, I became a little obsessed about it. What if we bought a nice holiday home somewhere in Spain?! It didn’t have to be on an island… it could be on the mainland… but it had to be close to the sea. After weeks of scrolling the internet, I kept being shown pictures and properties of this little town called Oliva. “What is this place?” I thought. AndI couldn’t get it out of my head. So I packed a bag, flew to Valencia, rented a car and drove down to Oliva to check it out for a week. Just to see. And it was not at all what I thought it would be. It was better than I could have imagined.

So I would come down every now and again to explore different areas - the beach, the old town, and explore the region. Oliva felt like a peaceful, quiet home base that was extremely close to the sea, didn’t feel like a tourist trap, and especially when strolling the streets in the Old Town - it felt like I was transported back to a simpler time.

In 2017, we bought our first property - our Old Town apartment. Back then we used it as a holiday home. every time we arrived we smiled more and our shoulders dropped. There was something about this place that felt like more than just a holiday home. And after a few years of flying back and forth, and purcahsing more properties, I decided to spend more time here taking care of the properties and renting them out to guests who - just like us - were fascinated about the Spanish lifestyle and culture, wanted a home base that was peacful, quiet, and close to teh beach but also a short drive away from wonderful towns, cities, culture, and experiences they can’t get back home. And that’s how Oliva Rentals came to be. close to When I first set foot in Oliva, I was looking for something that felt increasingly rare—a place where life slows down, where the coast is still pristine, and where you’re greeted by the quiet hum of authentic Spanish life. No towering resorts, no crowded beaches. Just endless blue horizons and that unmistakable Mediterranean warmth.

Like many who find their way here, I wanted a peaceful escape from the busyness of everyday life, somewhere I could actually feel at home rather than just another guest. And Oliva felt like that quiet haven—beautiful, serene, and without the tourist chaos and high price tags of other nearby cities. This was the lifestyle I wanted, and it seemed like a perfect match for people just like me.

I bought properties here because I knew others would be searching for this exact blend of tranquility and affordability. I wanted to create a way for others to “test drive” life here, to feel the pull of Oliva as I did, and maybe even imagine it as a place they could call home. That’s how Oliva Rentals was born—a collection of thoughtfully crafted apartments designed for comfort, relaxation, and exploration.
